Hayward is a city located in the East Bay of the San Francisco Bay Area in Alameda County. As such, it is considered one of the major suburbs of Oakland and San Francisco.
Hayward is known as the “Heart of the Bay” because of its central and convenient location in Alameda County.
As of the 2000 census, the city population was 140,030.
